It’s called authenticity.
Many people have two versions of themselves. There is a version of themselves that they keep hidden, which is the true one, and there is the version they put on for the world to see.
Of course, everybody keeps some of the cards closer to their chest, and that is totally normal. People might be judgemental creatures, but there are some things that we just don’t want to be judged about. However there is the reality of the situation:
If you want people to trust you, you have to be honest.
People who are truly authentic, are the people you want to surround you, they won’t care about the perfect angle on your profile picture, or what your description says. They just want to cut through and get the real you, because that is the only way people can trust you.
It’s anything but difficult to feel like the person you are isn’t somebody worth knowing, worth cherishing, and worth being near. We know each awful thing about ourselves, all that we’ve failed, each time we’ve said an inappropriate thing.
Yet, all things considered, you’re making a huge deal about those things. You don’t should be reluctant to place the genuine you in plain view for the world. On the off chance that somebody doesn’t care for it, they’re not the person you need in your life in any case.
Rather, start offering to the people throughout your life what it is that makes you tick. Show the world your own methods of reasoning. Educate us concerning what went right, what turned out badly, what you’re thinking, what you’re feeling. Enlighten us concerning the occasions you’ve won and lost. Mention to us what’s truly at the forefront of your thoughts.
Mention to us what you really need. Mention to us what sort of vocation you’d like, what you’d prefer to contemplate, where you’d prefer to travel, who you need to know, the sort of person you need to love.
This type of honesty, can leave you feeling vulnerable.
Well, it probably should. If you are always invulnerable, you can’t ever expect somebody to fully trust you.
The people that are authentic in your life, should be able to look at you as a totally open person, like someone who would not lie to them. Somebody who is true to themselves and then to you as well.
But, when you start to open up, be very careful with the truth you tell, because this is not a profile description. Don’t brag or humblebrag, don’t even think of putting up a front.
The authentic people around you will be able to see through that very easily, just like they are able to with a dating profile. They will not trust you if the only person you are showing them is a flawless and a badass one.
The you, you’re showing to the world might sometimes be comforting, but the people who are really close to you, will actually realize that all of that is a lie. Therefore, telling the truth will make people to fully trust you!
